Terrific stuff from the delightful Cotes du Rhone Villages appelation of Lirac. This tastes like essence of black cherry suspended in purified water with just a very slight hint of white pepper to remind you, lest you forget, it is still a Southern Rhone. Very pure, very rounded, actually too pure and rounded for a southern Rhone wine at this price, really great balance and structure for the money, and absolutely ready to rock now.
This has good concentration without being a 'big' wine. It's also (as you may have gathered...)the very antithesis of the rustic sauvage Southern Rhone style.
For me, to drink now, this is better than the 2005. And as some old geezer on the Croft Original advertisement used to say, 'One instinctively knows when something is right.'
At the current offer price, get it down you my son!
