I am a real sucker for the dark ripe style of nero d'avola, and of course Sicily does it so well. For the price, this is a good nero d'avola (blended with the frappato grape) and comes into its own with food. This tastes like black cherries macerated in alcohol. Very pure nose, good but unobtrusive acidity and a little oak comes through on the creamy finish. I can't remember the price, but it was about £5, and for that it is terrific...
