Drunk whilst out in Italy. This is what they're doing in Campania these days... Fabulous shit, though maybe the 2005 is on its way out. This is very very classy. This Aglianico is reminiscent of a medium-bodied Sangiovese with a hint of blueberry just to keep things interesting. There is a very bracing acidity here, but all in balance, and it makes this a really good food wine. This has very obvious oak influence, but very well done and well integrated. Elegance and balance are paramount here. I notice that you can get this stuff in the UK for just over ten quid. Brilliant wine!
Rubrato Aglianico dei Feudi di San Gregorio 2005 - 8.5/10. [This wine is 'not available in the shops.' Look for it on wine-searcher....]
