Not exactly in yer face, but a nice, if not jaw-droppingly impressive wine. If, in a moment of unbridled craziness, you made a home-made blend of a supermarket chianti and a crap supermarket barolo, you might end up with something vaguely like this (ok - perhaps very vaguely...) Not much to say about the fruit quality, this is tannin, acid and wood. But somehow manages to avoid being offensive. Nice balance, nice acidity, a little austere, a good food wine. But only if you can handle the style.... many won;t dig this. For me, way too expensive for what it is... 'I'll give you four pounds fifty sir, how does that sound?'
