Had a couple of disappointing cotes du rhones from this vintage so was getting sceptical about the hype. But this wine was terrific. Always a very nice wine, but never a wine screamed about by the cognoscenti, this one screams 'great vintage' A sense of concentration but in no way heavy or ponderous. Purity, length, class and supreme balance. If you want supermarket chateauneuf to drink now, this is as good as it gets.

Do you mean Sainsbury's instead of Waitrose? If not than both supermarkets have the same wine on offer for the same price. I bought a bottle from Sainsbury's the other day for £13.99. haven't tried it yet, but good to see that you liked it at least...
ReplyDeleteApologies - it is Sainsburys... very cool stuff.
