Chateauneuf comes in a huge range of styles and this one is almost Northern Rhone rather than the usual souped up Cotes du Rhone. In a way, very classy and dark/liquer -like on the nose with a palate of figs blackcurrants and plum sauce - it keeps changing - a touch menthol and an overriding dark quality. Refined stuff, lovely balance. But after half an hour or so it becomes a biut of a mess -hot, alcoholic - and never recovered.
So worth a try -but drink it straight away.
